Jorge Conde presents “T-up / T-down” at SCAN PhotoBooks 2106, within the SCAN International Contemporary Photography Festival's official section, which will take place in the city of Tarragona (Spain) from October 19th, 2016 to January 8th, 2017.
Somewhere in between the concept of an artist's book and that of a photobook, “T-up / T-down” is a handmade work consisting of 15 variations which turn every copy into a unique piece of art.
It was exclusively conceived as a tool devoted to reflection and analysis during the research phase of “A World-Size House”, the visual arts project Jorge Conde has been developing as resident artist at the Spanish Royal Academy in Rome (RAER) for the period 2015-16.
Thus, “T-up / T-down” [Thumbs up (or down)] ignites an experimental, participative game with which the reader is given the opportunity to “approve” or “reject” a wide selection of urban transforming projects, all of them integrated in Rome's contemporary cultural scene with unequal social impact and also delivering diverse results.
